Well, this blog went out with a whimper rather than a bang, but now I have new one to add to my ever-growing retinue.

“Mr. Joel told The Associated Press in a statement that writing the book made him realize that he was ‘not all that interested in talking about the past.’”
I don’t give two hoots about Billy Joel (except that I used his song as a study guide for my US History AP exam) but he is either incredibly stupid for throwing away an opportunity to be published, or the most enlightened one of us all.
This is MINDBLOWING.
One of my friends ran into me after class with a trivia tidbit: in the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, when it shows a shot of the exterior of the prep school that Will and the Banks kids attend, it’s actually a stock photo of a building right here on the UChicago campus.
To verify, my friend Emma and I went home immediately to do some research. That is, we sat on her couch and watched as many episodes we had time for.
IT IS TRUE. They used a stock photo of Ryerson Hall at the University of Chicago.
Amazing.
Well, isn’t that a relief.

THE TETRIS THEME IS ACTUALLY A SOVIET UNION RED ARMY SONG???
This delights me to no end. Tetris = Russian = Fuck you, I don’t have to compose an original theme, I’ll just grab whatever’s lying around.
